Sugar--Doesn't Make You Hyper

So, I head from the new MSNBC Dr. Nancy show that recent research studies dispelled the myth that sugar makes children hyper. But, of course, I'm thinking about how that relates to me! Cause sugar seems to be a substitute for comfort, at least today. I'm back from a long drive (3 days) home, and I can't stop eating cookies. One peek at my email and I sunk into that drowned and overwhelmed feeling.--and took those cookies with me. So, I don't need to be hyper, but rather numbed, so maybe that's what sugar does?!

  1. Well, it sure as hell does SOMETHING doesn't it? I, too, use sugar to numb. I am not a hyper person, but I have found myself "energized" by sugary things, and on sleepy days, I will find myself gravitating toward the more sweet things to stay awake. Perhaps their parameters for "hyper" were too narrow? Not sure...this is interesting. At least to me, it is.

  2. It is a running joke in my family that if you take me shopping, you have to bring cookies for me (I am not a shopper). In fact, my sisters shout to get me a cookie any time I'm starting to get anxious or upset, a lesson my husband has learned well. Hope the cookies do what you need them to do. I'm making a coffee milkshake for myself--sugar and caffeine.

  4. I am a sugar freak. Some people craze salty things like chips but I need my sweets.
